Use Case

Der Kunde vertreibt Artikel mit zugehörigem Zubehör. Aufgrund der hohen Anzahl an Artikeln wäre die Pflege der Zubehörartikel als Additional Items für jeden einzelnen Artikel mit erheblichem Aufwand verbunden. Es müssen mehrere hundert Artikel mit identischen oder sehr ähnlichen Zubehörsets verwaltet werden, weshalb eine zentrale Pflege der Zubehörzuordnung gewünscht ist.

Lösungsvorschlag

Die App wird um die Möglichkeit erweitert, Additional Item Groups zu definieren. Diese Gruppen funktionieren nach derselben Logik wie die bestehenden Additional Items, jedoch wird anstelle einzelner Artikel eine komplette Gruppe referenziert.

In den zugehörigen Artikeln steht künftig die neue Auswahloption „Gruppe“ zur Verfügung. Wird diese Option gewählt, kann der entsprechende Gruppencode hinterlegt werden.

Beim Öffnen der Seite für zugehörige Artikel sowie bei der automatischen Übernahme von Zubehörartikeln im Hintergrund wird die hinterlegte Gruppe aufgelöst. Die darin enthaltenen Einträge werden anschließend automatisch als einzelne Additional Items verarbeitet und angezeigt.

Technischer Lösungsansatz

• Einführung einer neuen Tabelle Additional Item Groups mit folgenden Feldern:

  • Code (Code[20])

  • Beschreibung (Text 100)

• Einführung einer weiteren Tabelle zur Verwaltung der Gruppenzuordnungen. Diese basiert funktional auf der bestehenden Additional-Items-Tabelle, enthält jedoch einen Verweis auf die jeweilige Additional Item Group.

• Erweiterung des bestehenden Additional Item Type Enums um den Wert 1000 = Group.

• Wird in einem zugehörigen Artikel der Typ Group ausgewählt, kann eine Additional Item Group hinterlegt werden.

• Beim Einfügen von Additional Items, sowohl:

  • interaktiv über die Auswahlseite Page als auch

  • automatisch im Hintergrund ohne Benutzerinteraktion,

  wird die referenzierte Gruppe automatisch aufgelöst.

• Die in der Gruppe enthaltenen Einträge (z. B. Artikel, Sachkonten, Ressourcen usw.) werden anschließend als einzelne Zeilen in Verkaufs- bzw. Einkaufsbelege übernommen.

• Innerhalb der Auswahlseite werden die aufgelösten Einträge temporär dargestellt, sodass die bestehende Benutzerführung erhalten bleibt.

Mehrwert

Durch die Verwendung von Additional Item Groups können Zubehörsets zentral gepflegt und mehrfach verwendet werden. Dies reduziert den Pflegeaufwand erheblich und sorgt für eine konsistente Zuordnung von Zubehörartikeln über eine große Anzahl von Stammartikeln hinweg.

Customer Request from a Prospect

Use Case

The customer sells products together with related accessories. Due to the large number of products, maintaining accessory items as Additional Items for each individual product would require significant effort.

Several hundred products need to be managed with identical or very similar accessory sets. Therefore, the customer is looking for a centralized way to maintain accessory assignments and reuse them across multiple products.

Proposed Solution

The app will be enhanced with the ability to define Additional Item Groups. These groups follow the same logic as the existing Additional Items functionality, but instead of referencing individual items, a complete group can be assigned.

A new selection option, Group, will be available within the related items setup. When this option is selected, an Additional Item Group Code can be assigned.

When opening the related items page, as well as during the automatic insertion of accessory items in the background, the assigned group will be resolved automatically. The entries contained in the group will then be processed and displayed as individual Additional Items.

Technical Solution Approach

1. Introduce a new table Additional Item Groups containing the following fields:

   • Code (Code[20])

   • Description (Text[100])

2. Introduce an additional table for managing group assignments. Functionally, this table resembles the existing Additional Items table but contains a reference to the corresponding Additional Item Group.

3. Extend the existing Additional Item Type enum with the value:

   • 1000 = Group

4. When the type Group is selected in a related item record, an Additional Item Group can be assigned.

5. Whenever Additional Items are inserted, either:

   • interactively through the selection page, or

   • automatically in the background without user interaction,

   the referenced group is automatically expanded.

6. The entries contained within the group (for example, Items, G/L Accounts, Resources, etc.) are then transferred as individual lines to sales or purchase documents.

7. Within the selection page, the expanded entries are displayed temporarily, ensuring that the existing user experience and workflow remain unchanged.

Business Value

By using Additional Item Groups, accessory sets can be maintained centrally and reused across multiple products. This significantly reduces maintenance effort and ensures consistent assignment of accessory items across a large number of master data records.

As a result, data maintenance becomes more efficient, less error-prone, and easier to manage at scale.
